restored signpostEstablished in 2002 Signpost Restoration has become the lead organisation in the restoration of historic roadside features and has completed projects throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Although the majority of our projects to date have involved cast-iron we also have experience in aluminium and timber restoration.

We are experienced in the restoration of fingerposts, lamp standards, milestones, mileposts and plaques. From pattern making and the casting of new components to replace long lost items such as fingers, finials, etc, through to the manufacture of a completely new "historic" fingerpost or milepost we have the expertise and experience to help you complete your restoration project.

cast alluminium name plateOur projects to date have involved work on many of the UK's fingerpost styles and as a result we have the patterns available to create the mould and the castings necessary to replicate exactly the original component.

Using the traditional "Cumberland County Council" post as an example the guideline explains how the post is constructed, how to clean it and how to produce a lasting protective finish.

The information and specifications contained provide useful data for inclusion in funding applications for your project.

In January 2008 Signpost Restoration Ltd received a commendation within the ‘Listed Buildings’ category of the Enfield Design Awards for its restoration of the six historic fingerposts remaining within the borough. See restoration projects for picture of fingerpost at Southgate, Enfield.
